Why I chose Life's Abundance Dog Food

Feed your Dog or Puppy Life's Abundance Dog and Puppy Food

Life's Abundance is a Wholesome Health Food for Your Dog and Puppy.

(The following information and comments are provided by Bev Storer and are solely my opinion.  They represent the reasons why I chose Life's Abundance Dog Food and Cat Food for our farm's companion animals and why our family became Life's Abundance Pet Food Field Representatives.)

We've always been concerned about our health and we care about what foods we feed our family. We don't eat a lot of junk food and we eat organic, wholesome foods whenever possible.

We carry that same nutritional concern for all our farm animals too. That's why we chose Life's Abundance Dog Food for our ranch dogs and Life's Abundance Cat Food for our cats. We believe that healthy, happy, well-nourished dogs and cats make less trips to the Vet; and, they tend to live a longer life, too.

Some people don't care about what they feed their dog and will feed them the cheapest food possible. Feeding a cheap food filled with artificial colors, inexpensive grain fillers,  flavors, by-products and added chemical preservatives, will eventually catch up with your dog's health. And, your dog will suffer for it. (You will too when you have to pay an exorbitant vet bill or have the life of your precious friend shortened.)

I believe that diseases caused by poor nutrition will shorten your pet's life. Just like a human, good health and longevity is connected to the food you eat.

Side Note: Please, please, don't feed your dog, gross cheap treats either. If you filled your human body with all those strong preservatives and poor quality ingredients, your body would suffer and you would get sick. So don't do that to your dog either.

Why we believe you should care about what you feed your dog.

Each and every dog and puppy has unique nutritional needs due to many factors; such as breed type, life stage (puppy, adult or senior), personality (high strung or laid back), living environment (only pet or big pet family; indoor or outdoor) and activity level.

The secret to superior pet food lies in the formula itself – not only in the ingredients, but also in the proportions of those ingredients to each other. While many dog foods may meet technical standards for dietary requirements, some pet food manufacturers cut corners on their ingredients, which affects the quality of the overall formula.

If you are like us, then you believe that you should be feeding your dog the very best that you possible can.  After all "Fido" depends upon you to keep him/her happy and healthy for years to come.

Life's Abundance Pet Food uses only wholesome ingredients, so their pet food whether it's for your dog, puppy, cat or kitten does NOT contain:

  • Artificial Flavors:  A quality pet food does not need to use artificial flavors to enhance the flavor so that your pet will eat it.  Wholesome natural proteins do not need flavor enhancers that are not good for your pet.

Ask yourself this: What is a pet food manufacturer hiding if they have to use fake flavors to get your pet to eat their food.

  • By-products:  By-products are ingredients which are not fit for human consumption.

"Animal by-product" means rendered products from animal tissues, exclusive of any added blood, hair, hoof, horn, hide trimmings, manure, stomach and rumen contents except in such amounts as may occur unavoidably in good processing practices.

Watch for pet food labels that contain the words  "byproduct" on the ingredient label. Inedible byproducts such as bone, fat, heads, hair, feet are sometimes used in commercial pet food. These materials are sent to a rendering plant for processing into pet food products.

Life's Abundance Pet Foods do not contain byproducts.

I'd like to add one more piece of important information about the meaning of the word "meat" that may be seen on some manufacturer's ingredient list:  The ingredient  "Meat" can be rendered dogs and cats as well as other animals such as road-kill. When the source of the meat is known it will be listed as beef, poultry, chicken, turkey, etc. If the source of the meat is not known it is simply called "meat".

  • No corn or corn gluten. Corn is used in some brands of dog food as a cheap protein filler. It is hard to digest and even more important aflatoxin found in corn has been involved in pet food recalls.  Learn More.  Life's Abundance Dog Food does not contain corn or corn gluten.

Ask yourself this:  If corn has been involved in many of the pet food recalls, why do pet food manufacturers continue to use it as a main ingredient in their food?

  • No wheat or wheat gluten.  A big no brainer!  Wheat imported from China was the cause of the 2007 Menu pet food recalls. Many dogs and cats suffered died from Renal Failure.  Learn More.  Life's Abundance Dog Food does not contain wheat or wheat gluten or any ingredient imported from China.  There are pet food companies that still continue to import and use grain from China.  Don't buy pet food brands that import ingredients from China.

Ask yourself this: If contaminated wheat has been involved in many of the pet food recalls, why do pet food manufacturers continue to use it as a main ingredient in their food.

  • No soy or soy gluten. Premium dog foods have been recently been touting "Soy Free".  Why is this important?  Soy beans were introduced into commercial pet foods because they are a cheap source of protein. Soy is not essential to a dog's health.  There has been mounting evidence that soy may have adverse effects such as allergic reactions.  Some consider Soy a high risk allergen for dogs.

Soy can create bloat, which in severe cases can be fatal. Soy is also a bowel irritant that may cause diarrhea.

  • No artificial colors.  Wow!  I don't even know what to say here.  Again, if a pet food manufacturer has to use artificial colors to make their food attractive and competitive for the human consumer, don't buy it.  Pets don't care what color their food is.  Natural wholesome foods should not contain artificial food dyes that may be harmful to your pet.

  • Cute little shapes.  Life's Abundance Pet Foods do not use cute, colorful shapes to sell food.  Pets do not care if their food is shaped like a "fish" or a "bone".  This is a marketing gimmick used by manufactures to appeal to humans to get them to purchase their food brand.  Look at the ingredients of these brands and see if they are healthy for your pet.

  • Pretty Packaging.  Buyer beware.  Rather than the wholesome pictures shown on some pet food packaging, rendering companies dispose of millions pounds of inedible waste each day including, heads, feet, stomachs, intestines, spinal cords, tails, restaurant grease, feathers, bones and dead or diseased animals rejected from slaughterhouses for use in manufacturing pet food. Amazingly, animals from research laboratories may be rendered into pet food as well.

Bottom line, read the ingredient list on those pretty bags of pet food before you feed it to your pet.  Manufacturers spend millions of dollars learning how to fool consumers into purchasing their pet food by using pleasant-to-look-at packaging.

Speaking about pretty packaging!  How about the big name brand pet food, that proudly displays a picture of a wholesome looking corn-on-the-cob and a golden stalk of wheat on it's dog food package.  I suppose they want you to forget that contaminated corn and wheat have been involved in some of the biggest pet food recalls in history!

  • No added chemical preservatives.  Life's Abundance does not add any bad chemical preservatives such as ethoxyquin, butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) and butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) that are commonly found in most pet food brands.

(Tocopherols (vitamin E) and ascorbic acid (vitamin C) are the most common natural preservatives.)

The preservative that has caused dog owners the most concern is ethoxyquin. It is currently allowed in dog food at levels up to 150 parts per million (ppm).  Ethoxyquin has been used in animal feed for more than three decades. However, in recent years the FDA has received many consumer reports about health problems occurring in dogs that were fed ethoxyquin-containing foods.

  • Bad Smell.  If your current brand smells bad and/or smells like chemicals, don't feed it to your pet.  Life's Abundance Dog Food smells fresh because it is fresh.  It's shipped to your home as fresh as it can get.  It never, ever sets in a warehouse for weeks, months and sometimes a year or longer like some pet food brands.
